A quick tour through Medan

Medan was only a quick stopover: we had half a day to explore the city so I didn’t capture more than only a few impressions. There are many old buildings in Medan that still retain their Dutch architecture. The peranakan Tjong A Fie Mansion was definitely worth a visit as well.

Medan travel information

• Transport: By shared car from Samosir.
• Stay: At the hotel next to the railway, to move quickly to the airport the next morning (and fly to Jakarta). It was clean, decent and centrally located.
• Things to do: We only did a quick walk around town.
• Food: Nothing to recommend.
